Who Are The Main Characters In Tintin?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The main characters in the "Adventures of Tintin" series of comic books drawn and written by Herge, are the eponymous hero, Tintin, and his dog, Snowy.

Tintin is a boy of indeterminate age, but probably teenager, who has the outlook and ideals of a boy scout. He and Snowy travel the world having wonderful adventures. Tintin works as a reporter.

Snowy, whose original French name was Milou, is a white wire fox terrier. Snowy never speaks, though he is seen thinking in human words. Snowy is frequently integral to the plot, for example, in one adventure, he is the only individual to remember that they were abducted by aliens.

A supporting character is Captain Archibald Haddock, an old seafaring man, and good friend of Tintin. Haddock's wit, sarcasm and sometimes love of alcohol are in contrast to Tintin's strongly upright and moral character.

Professor Cuthbert Calculus is an absent-minded physicist who frequently turns up in the adventures.

Thompson and Thompson are two incompetent detectives, who provide much comic relief to the stories, and Bianca Castafiore is an opera singer, who, though disliked by Tintin, seems to appear everywhere.
