Do Microwaves Damage Food?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A number of myths about whether microwave ovens damage food or not have been disproved. For example, it was believed that heating food in a microwave oven causes permanent brain damage by damaging the electrical impulses in the brain, and the food is robbed of most of its essential nutrients, becomes radioactive and does benefit the body in any way. Both these are false claims and have been shattered now. However, according to a scientific study conducted by researchers on the subject, microwave-heated food can prove to be a heath hazard to a certain extent at times. Large amounts of D-proline, present in microwave-heated milk, has proven to be toxic to the kidneys and liver, and some volunteers did show signs of being in a low-grade anaemic condition after consuming food that has been heated in a microwave oven.
