Before getting married to Sir Denis Thatcher in 1951, Margaret Thatcher's name was Margaret Hilda Roberts. She is the daughter of Beatrice Ethel Roberts and Alfred Roberts. She was born in the town of Grantham in Lincolnshire, England in 1925. She had an older sister, Muriel. Her father was active in local politics and was a religious man. Thatcher was very successful in her educational endeavors. She later decided to follow in her father's foot steps and entered into the realm of politics. During her time as prime minister, she had a mixture of strong supporters as well as strong opponents. She is definitely one of the most significant British politicians in history.
