I Have A Female Dog Just Had Pups - Has Just Been Diagnosed Having Low Calcium Levels - What Can I Give Her To Help Her During The Time?

My dog will not take the tums ex that the emergency vet center told me to give her - is there something else that may work better

I do not know what tums ex is. If it is a pill, crush it up and mix it with some tasty food that you know she likes. Do this out of her sight. That will probably do the trick.
You must get the calcium into her because she needs it for her milk.
Does she liked tinned sardines or similar? Little tinned fish with the bones still in? If she does, pour off the oil or brine from the tin and give her the fish. The bones are softened by the canning process so they will digest and give her some calcium.

What you also can do that will be tasty for her is get some "bone meal" from your buthcer. It is bone crushed up really fine. There is some bone marrow in as well which is also good for your dog.

      Hi ttayl22!

Try looking on the PetsMart web site; they have something called Calcium Phosphorus by Pet Ag which is available on the WEB ONLY. They actually have quite a selection of supplements for dogs. Check it out!
