You can merely write a letter informing them of your change of address (phone number is not required, but it can be helpful) Make sure you sign the letter. Your signature is required to authorize a change of address. You could also wait until you file your next tax return by legibly printing your name and address in the upper section of the return. (I worked for the IRS for 28 years.) If you have been in contact with the IRS for any reason other than just filing your annual taxes, you should inform them ASAP,
