    For an equation of the form ax^2+bx+c =0 , using quaratic formula we know that
    x = -b + sqrt (b^2 - 4ac)
              -
          -------------------------
                      2a

    so in our equation 2x2 + 9x - 7 = 0, we have
    a = 2, b = 9 and c = -7

    applying this in the above formula we get
    x = (-9 +/- sqrt(81+56) )/ 4 ; so
    x = (-9 + sqrt(137))/4 OR x = (-9-sqrt(137))/4
