The term 'wild rice' describes a kind of grass that is also known as wild oat. If you want to grow it yourself you should plant it in the spring season when you find that the ice is melting. The surface that you should use is shallow waters and you can sow it either by hand or with the help of a seeder. The harvesting time for the crop is in late August or in some cases it is early September. After harvesting, the rice is packed and sent to processing plants where they clean it and then stored in bags.
The area where it is known to grow is Sask and there it grows along the northern lakes, streams and also along the rivers.
