How Can A Solicitor Advise With Separation Matters?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Couples who are considering separation take the legal advice of a solicitor to know if they have any alternatives to divorce when things begin to go wrong for them. Divorce is the last resort of a couple whose relationship has soured, but many couples prefer to sign a separation agreement.

A separation agreement is an agreement which can be sued in a court of law where the couple wishes to separate but not officially go in for a divorce (perhaps because they are not ready for it yet). A separation agreement is usually intended only for the purpose of regulating the terms of a temporary separation.

Important issues which come under the scope of a separation agreement include children, financial affairs, maintenance, etc. The main advantage of a separation agreement is that it is flexible.
