Who Is Cathie Boyd?

Cathie Boyd is a theatre director and master manager and administrator.  She was born in Northern Ireland before thankfully escaping to train at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where she produced her first professional production before she graduated.  She formed the company Theatre Cryptic which she has continued to lead since then.  However, as Boyd's interests have changed, so has the direction of the company and they have essentially become a music-theatre company.  That's not musicals, that's theatre that uses music as its primary source and its primary output.

Boyd is an award winner of massive proportion. Her office is still in the C.C.A on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow.  She had recently won a NESTA fellowship, which is seventy three thousand pounds to research her interest into sound and music theatre.

Boyd has produced productions such as Black over Red with the Latvian Radio Choir, the Books of Silence, Different Trains, Electra, Apocalypse and the Trojan Women.
