    Basically chemical fertilizers not only nourish the plants but they also have a strong impact on the soil. The impact of fertilizers increases when it is concentrated and water soluble. There are nitrogen fixing bacteria in the soil and even these bacteria are killed because of these fertilizers. There are some microbes in the soil which maintain the fertility of the soil through their enzymes in the soil. Chemical fertilizers can increase the acidification or neutralization of soil, but these enzymes are supposed to work at a particular pH range, therefore, the activity of enzymes is stopped. For example, ammonium phosphate is used as a fertilizer but it is a strong biocide which can stop the activity of nitrogen fixing bacteria.
