It will not affect the test. When they do a hair follicle test they check the root of the hair and that is implanted in your skin.

The lab cut my hair about 2-3 inches across the back of my head close to the scalp. Same with my sister at a different lab. No root was taken. I was told the hair is dissoled and drus are identified and measured. Then they take a second piece from the sample to retest and confirm.
