Is This Anxiety Or Panic Attacks?

What does it mean if I have a constant fear that my heart isn't beating right or that my heart is going to suddenly stop beating. Who do I talk to about this? Doctor or a psychiatrist?

You should see a medical doctor for advisement, then ask them what your next step should be. I have had panic attacks for a one going 3 years and what you are describing sounds like a text book example of some of panic symptoms. If you see a psychiatrist they will possibly suggest medication. Beware   these kinds of medicines help but can be extremely habit forming ever under the doctors care.

I agree with Rhyanna that you have both. It starts off as anxiety then anxiety attack then once you have hit panic attack mode...you feel as if you are going to die and have a heart attack. This is something you need to seek treatment for. Go straight to psychiatrist unless your health plan is one that you must see your regular physician for a referral. Hope we have all helped you. You are not alone.

First, you should go and have your medical doctor give you a thorough exam, just to be able to let you know that your heart is doing fine and is healthy.  Then, if you are still having fears, have your doctor recommend a counselor that will help you get through this, and find out why you feel that way.

I  wish you all the best, and hope your health is excellent!

Always seek a physicians advise first, but it sounds like you may have a little of both. A physician can diagnosis it and prescribe if necessary. Then he may refer a psychologist or a counselor to assist in developing coping skills. However understand you are not alone, many people have the same issues. Getting medical and counseling is probably the best approach.

I would see both types of doctors, one to ensure you your heart is fine and the other to help manage the anxiety attacks. I have had both anxiety attacks and panic attacks...and panic attacks are worse. My last panic attack I passed out and vomited at the same time not fun.

Now i would go see your family doctor but what I think if your fer and worry about your heart not beating is all the time then I would say it is anxiety but if it just comes on out of the blue and sudden I would think it is panic attacks. Trust me i know alot about panic attacks when I was 19 I had them all the time I didn't know how to deal with them. It had a hold of my life I wouldn't even go out of my house because i would have them anywhere I went so I thought to myself ok if I have them when I go places I just wont go anywhere then a 1 year later i got pregnant I was so scared but you know what it brought me out them panic attacks I think god planed that for me. I still have them time to time but I know how to control them thank god. When I had panic attacks it would feel like I couldn't breath and then I would focus on my breathing then i thought oh no I'm not breathing right then I would feel like I would pass out it was not a good way to spend you teen life

I always recommend seeing a medical doctor to rule out any medical conditions.  Then, I would recommend seeing a therapist, not necessarily a psychiatrist.  Psychiatrists are medical doctors, and although some provide therapy, often times medication is their main form of treatment.  I would look to speak with a psychologist or a licensed clinical social worker for more treatment regarding you condition, which sounds like Generalized Anxiety Disorder with possible panic attacks (I'm by no means offering you a diagnosis here, but these kinds of symptoms should be the focus of your treatment).
I'd be happy to help you further if your interested.
