Wundt is considered the first psychologist by many, and certainly the first experimental psychologist, having begun the first psychology laboratory in Lleipzig, Germany in 1879. Without William James, American psychology would not be what it is today. Without Galton, we would not have Gestalt psychology, which is in some ways is the foundation for behavioral psychology. Bell and Magendie discovered the dorsal spinal nerves are sensory nerves while ventral spinal nerves are necessary for motor movements.
