What Is A Sign Up Bonus On An Online Poker Site?

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A sign up bonus is a one off bonus that online poker companies offer to attract you to their site. They come in two formats. The first is a one off set amount of money, and the second is a percentage of your first deposit amount.

The set amount is often deposited immediately into your online poker account upon opening it. It is often awarded regardless of whether you deposit, but because of the risk factor the amount is small. It is good if you want to get a feel of the site before depositing.

The percentage of your first deposit is often a more attractive bonus amount. However, there are maximum and minimum bonus amounts so check these before you deposit to avoid disappointment. The bonus is placed in your account shortly after your deposit is made.

With all sign up bonuses, read the small print. There are many rules and regulations and if they are not met, the bonus will not be awarded. Also, the bonus amount must be wagered a certain amount of times before it can be cashed out, so make sure you understand this fully to avoid your account being temporarily blocked for bonus abuse.
