What Is The Current State Of Affairs On The Front Of Iran's Nuclear Proliferation?

Iran's nuclear proliferation has become a matter of concern for all the major powers in the world, specifically the Western nations, who consider this entire scenario to be ominous to the strongly established international security.  The United States has voiced out its concern most vociferously, stating that this uranium enrichment on behalf of Iran is an initial step in the development of nuclear weapons, which would be a definite threat to the maintenance of international peace and security.  

The President of the United States, George W. Bush recently issued a statement at a White House news conference, which stated that the United States and members of the European Union would not hesitate in toughening the economic sanctions on Iran if it did not put a surcease to its nuclear proliferation and continued to go against the demands of the United Nations.  Meanwhile the Iranian president termed these constant warnings as nothing but an effort to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power.
