Who Was Paul Revere?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Born in the year 1736 and dying in the year 1818, Paul Revere was a colonist who became famous for his noble act of playing a vital part in the American Revolution to warn Massachusetts about the aggressive approach of the British troops.

By profession, Revere was a silversmith and also sold spectacles, replaced missing teeth and sold surgical instruments to support his family.  His father was a Huguenot refugee, who had settled in Boston, Massachusetts.

By nature, he was passionately patriotic and was purely anti-British.  He was also a leader of the Boston Tea Party when a protest was launched by angry colonists, who threw a cargo of tea in the sea as a sign of overt objection against the tax that the British had imposed on it.

After the colonists' victory and the success of the American Revolution, Revere set up a rolling mill for the manufacture of sheet copper in Massachusetts and became rich through that.
