United States Defence Secretary Robert Gates met the King of Jordan's King Abdullah II mainly for talks on issues pertaining to the Middle East. The top items on the meeting agenda were the matters of Iran's nuclear proliferation, the war in Iraq and the Arab-Israel peace process.
Iran's nuclear proliferation, as per the current situation, was agreed to be a verily crucial matter. Discussions were perpetuated to reach a solution to this problem and eventually both the sides agreed on the mutual consensus of exerting economic and diplomatic pressure to make Iran change its mind.
As for the war in Iraq, Mr. Gates presented a very diplomatic answer, which was not in complete favour of either the Iraq war advocates or the party against the war. In his opinion, the most remarkable of achievements on the reconciliation front in Iraq would be primarily legislative progress.
However no satisfactory words were exchanged on the issue of the Arab-Israel peace process.
