What Is The Closest Star To Earth?

Answer Question

While we rarely think of the sun as our star but reality remains that the star which comes nearest to earth would be the sun. Situated 8.31 minutes away from us at the speed of light, that's how long light needs to travel across from our sun to us.

Next in line would be Proxima Centauri (which has the scientific name V645 Cen). It is roughly located about 4.2 light years away from us.

The sun, which is actually our star, is positioned at the heart of the Solar System. You will find that our planet along with lots of other matter (that would include planets, asteroids and so on) orbit the Sun. yet, by itself this star makes up roughly 99.8 per cent of the total solar system's mass.
