The Imam may not have given him specific details of sciences but of the principles of sciences like the need for empirical evidence before a hypothesis is postulated. The Imam's belief that a reliance on 'words' and 'claims' and 'magic' is not the way of science. The Imam said that similar proof is needed also before you can rely on a narration about the Nabi.
