Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The player who has represented Liverpool football club in the most league games is Ian Callaghan.

Born in Toxteth, Liverpool in April nineteen fifty two, Ian Robert Callaghan signed  professionally for the club he supported as a boy in nineteen sixty, making his début that same year against Bristol Rovers.

A right sided winger, Callaghan signed for Liverpool while the club were still in the second tier of English football.  In sixty two and under the guidance of manager Bill Shankly, Liverpool and Callaghan secured promotion from division two in nineteen sixty two.

On the crest of a wave Liverpool went from strength to strength, winning the league championship in only Shankly's second season in the league.

Callaghan went on to make six hundred and forty league appearances for the reds, scoring forty nine league goals.

When he left Liverpool in nineteen seventy eight he had won every single major club honour, including five league championships and two European cups.
