    The energy due to the motion of  the moving body is called kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is the total work required to accelerate a body from its rest velocity to final velocity. Suppose, a mass 'm' is moving with a velocity 'v', then the kinetic energy of the body is;

    Kinetic energy= 1/2 * mass * square of velocity

    K.E = 1/2mv2

    The unit of the kinetic energy is joule.

    On the other hand, the quantity of motion in a moving body is known as momentum. Momentum is the product of mass and velocity of the body. According to the law of conservation of momentum, the total momentum of a system remains constant unless an external force is applied on the system.

    Momentum = mass x velocity

    Moreover, the rate of change of momentum in a body is equal to the applied force.
