What Information Would You Need To Figure Out The Surface Area Of A Cylinder?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

You would need the radius or diameter of the base and the height of the cylinder.

First, find the area of the base with A = πR2. Next, double the radius to get the diameter (or do the opposite to find the radius for the area of the base), and use it to find circumference--C = πD.

You can use the formula SA = 2A + (CH).

Optionally, you can use SA = 2πR2 + H(πD). Both will get you the right answer.
