Folkestone is a small coastal resort. It is situated in the Shepway district of Kent in England. The town was earlier connected to France and Boulogne by Seacat and Ferry services. During the time of the First World War, Folkestone played host to around 70,000 Belgian refugees. In the early 1915s it was the meeting point for soldiers who were departing to battle in the trenches of Belgium and France. Folkestone suffered heavy damages during the time of the both the World Wars (World War 1&2).
On the 25th of May, 1917 the Luftwaffe aircrafts dropped their bombs on the Folkestone coast, destroying it severely and taking 95 innocent lives. It was also damaged in the process. This bomb shedding also showed England's capability to defend their outer boundaries.
