When Was Birmingham City Football Club Founded?

Answer Question

Birmingham City Football Club was founded in 1875.
It's original name was the 'Small Heath Alliance' named after the 'Small Heath' area of Birmingham. This later changed to 'Small Heath' in 1888, 'Birmingham FC' in 1905 and eventually settled upon 'Birmingham City FC' in 1945.

Their only impressive trophy was the League Cup which they won in 1963. Birmingham City also reached the finals of the FA cup on two occasions in 1931 and 1956.

The colour of the club's kit is blue, which is why they are nicknamed 'the blues', although Birmingham City fans are known as the Bluenoses. The crest on the kit is the same as the city of Birmingham's coat of arms. This has been in existence as part of the club's crest since the name of the club was changed from Small Heath to Birmingham City.

Birmingham City FC currently play in the Championship division. They were unfortunately relegated from the Premiership in the 2005/06 season, but the future looks promising for the Blues and they may make a swift return to the Premiership in 2007.
