Levant refers to the act of leaving in a hurry or stealthily in order to avoid paying off debts. It is basically the act of running away from any kind of debt.
A levant is also a kind of a sandwich which is made by distributing a pre-softened lahvash with cream cheese. This is then layered with thin sheets of fillings like meat or lettuce etc. the big flat circle is then rolled in the manner of a jelly roll, encased in wrapping plastic and put in the fridge. Just before serving, the cylindrical sandwich is cut into slices. This sandwich is also called as the aram sandwich.
The Levant is the historical title bestowed on the nations that are situated along the shores on the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is a collective name describing countries from Egypt to Turkey.
