France has a temperate climate, though regional variations are considerable. It has cool winters and mild summers in the north with fairly high rainfall while it is more warm and moist in the south as they experience Mediterranean climate.

There is plenty of rain in the spring, but summers are fine and hot. Continental climate prevails in the east. The average annual rainfall in France is about 786mm/31 inches. An occasional north-to-north-westerly wind known as mistral blows through France. It is strong, cold and dry in nature.
