What Can You Tell Me About Cornwall?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Cornwall is surrounded by the sea on three sides and by the River Tamar from the rest of England. Regarded as more than just a county, especially by the Cornish people who consider it to be a Duchy.  The Prince of Wales holds the title of Duke of Cornwall.

Having a population of just over 500,000 this is swelled in the summer months by tourists.  Tourism provides the major economic strength but otherwise the county does not produce much towards the national economy.

In the past most of the population were connected with the sea as fishermen, or sailors.  Farming along with tin and copper mining were also major industries.  The mining industry declined and produce from other countries led to a fall in output from this county.

Truro, the most southerly city in Britain is the only city in Cornwall and is well known for its cathedral and cobbled streets.
