    This could be tricky.  Muscle spasms don't occur without a reason, such as a bone spur or bulging disc irritating the nerve.

    Moist heat is good for muscle spasms.  Hot showers or soaking in a spa (hot tub) helps some people (but not those with low blood pressure).  Alternating heat and cold can help reduce spasm and also inflammation.

    Massage, Pilates, Yoga, Stretching and Physical Therapy are all good, once the underlying cause is isolated and under control.  Get advice from your doctor as to which one is appropriate.  Health clubs often offer Pilates, Yoga and stretching classes at very good rates.

    Your psychology has a major effect in pain control.  Mindful meditation techniques can help breathing and reduce muscle tension.  Hypnosis can sometimes help.
