Hernan Cortes with a small group of Spanish soldiers and with the aid of thousands of other tribal indian warriors. Conquered the Aztecs in 1519. He tricked the Aztec leader by befriending him. The Aztecs believed at first the Spaniards were gods never seeing horses before. They thought man and beast were one. It didn't help that Cortes looked similar to one one thier gods who promised to return. After disease brought on by the Spaniards began to kill thousands of Aztecs and Cortes had new re-enforcements; the Aztecs fell.
