    Zinedine Zidane represented France in one hundred and eight internationals; his last appearance for his country, and indeed on a football pitch came in the final of the two thousand and six world cup finals held in Germany.  

    Infamously for Zidane, he was sent off in that match for headbutting one his opponents after some alleged taunting over his origins.  

    Zidane first appeared for France in nineteen ninety four and took the place of former Manchester United legend Eric Cantona.  

    Zidane was inspirational in the French world cup win of nineteen ninety eight, a tournement his country held.  Zidane was also sent off in that tournament, although this time not in the final; instead he found himself on the score sheet as the scorer of France's opening two goals as they steam rolled crowd pleasers Brazil three, one in the final.  

    Zidane's appearance in the two thousand and six world cup final was his last ina  football shirt as he retired from football at the end of the tournement.
