It sounds like a small infection, you can use a wet paper towel, and wipe the eyes, but make sure you don't put the same spot of the paper towel, each time use a new area. If this doesn't help in a few days, then you should talk to the vet and get some medicine for it. Hope this helps, good luck to you and the kitty.
