All CD and DVD burners are come with its on-board random access memory (RAM), this on-board called buffer or buffer memory that sores the data from recording source. Buffer under- run the inability of the source device to keep the data loaded within burner. Produce more coasters if improperly burn causing useless CDs, under-running of buffer mostly cause, when copying from CD-ROM to DVD-R, or CD-RW.

There are various causes of buffer under-run, but two most important causes number one is the size buffer , before purchasing make sure you are buying burner with large buffer its about minimum 2 mega bytes, secondly the process of multitasking, to avoid the under run use an image file . Before burning a CD, image file is bit by bit image of the data you are going to burn on CD.

Some of the CD-RW and DVD-RW is available with burn proof technologies, which are help to eliminate the under-run problem during the burning process. These drives have capability to turn of the burning process if the buffer is run out of information and as soon as buffer memory refills it start working automatically.
