David R. Scot is one of the three American astronauts who visited the moon in the space ship "Endeavor" in July 1971. They stayed on the moon for sixty seven hours. During his short stay there he became familiar with the silent, deserted world of moon. It was his temporary home. At the time of departure Scot was rather sad to leave the moon.
Two years after his return to the earth, Scot very fondly remembers his historical visit to moon. He often thinks about those three most memorable days of his life when he was walking about on the surface of moon. He can easily recall his visit moment by moment but some times he wonders if he has really walked on the moon. It was such a rear journey as is almost impossible to make again.
Scot says that while having a walk on a pleasant autumn night or driving his car on a straight road in Texas he looks at the moon sailing over the clouds. It appears bright and proud. He can identify the large, circular plain called Mare Imbrium on its luminous surface. He remembers clearly that he had landed on one side of this vast plain in his space ship. Then he begins to miss the lunar world where he had lived for three days. He feels the pain of separation when he things that he will never be able to visit that bright planet again. His sense of loss makes him sad. He does not regard moon as a strange and dull place. For him it is a familiar, friendly and peaceful place. He believes that mans visit to moon is his first step in his struggle to conquer the depths of space.
