Where Is Cahul?

Cahul is a city in the south of Moldova, which is a small, landlocked country in Eastern Europe, bordering with Ukraine and Rumania.

Because it is sited on frequently disputed territory, Cahul has sometimes been in Moldova, at other times in Romania, sometimes in Russia, and sometimes in Turkey! This however has led to a rich and diverse culture.

Cahul is known for its mineral thermal springs and mud treatments, which are supposed to be wonderful for the skin, and very relaxing. Hirjuaca is the most famous spa in the Cahul area, and well worth a visit.

It also has a renowned local theatre, which is a good venue for listening to the folk music that the area is famous for.

Moldova is a wine growing country, and Cahul has a number of places where you can drink wine and listen to folk music. Also, more modern music is popular too.

Cahul has a university, which runs a range of arts and science courses.

Although Cahul is a little bit off the popular tourist trail, it does have a few small hotels.
