It is believe that it took about 7,800,000 gold francs (in 1889) to build the Eiffel Tower. The tower is one of the most magnificent monuments and is the highest that was ever built by man (rises to a height of about 985feet). It took two years, two months and five days to complete the entire monument. It was named after a gentleman called Alexander Eiffel whose team of engineers designed this monument. One can reach the top via the two lifts that transport passengers to and fro.

It is very strategically located along the banks of the Seine River at the Champs de Mars. Engraved on this tower are the names of people who contributed to its architecture.
