What Is The Procedure Of Taking The Backup Of Your Microcomputer System?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

You must decide how often you want to back up data. Do you want to backup the entire hard disk or simply the files that have been changed since the last backup? Perhaps you want to make daily copies of the files that have been changed and, at the end of week make a backup copy of entire disk, including software and files. What ever the procedures, they should be defined clearly and followed routinely.
Also, remember that backup must be done on removable media-storage media that can easily be removed from the system and stored in another place. Some businesses configure microcomputers with two hard disks. The first hard disk is work disk onto which all the current processing activities and updated files are stored. The second hard disk is used as a backup disk-the contents of the first disk are copied onto the second. This is not advisable. Suppose the microcomputer system is subjected to a massive power surge? The contents of both disks will be destroyed. Or supposed the entire microprocessor system is stolen? Once more you want to have any backup files.
Once media has been backed up, it is important to clearly label and date the backup media.
