Who Had The Hit I Will Always Love You?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The fantastic hit, I Will Always Love You was originally recorded by the busty blonde country and western singer, Dolly Parton. Dolly was born in Sevierville, Tennessee and was the forth of 12 children born to Robert Lee Parton and Avie Lee Owens.
Dolly began performing as a child, singing on local radio programs. At the age of 12 she was appearing on TV as a child singer. By the time she left school, Dolly was asked to join a country music show hosted by Porter Wagoner and the two of them became a huge success. Dolly started writing her own material, including the hit Jolene and to date has published almost 600 songs and has received 24 awards.
The son I will Always Love You is said to be Dolly's tribute to Wagoner when Dolly and he parted company and she went on to become a solo artist.
The song has since been re-recorded many times, but most notably by Whitney Houston for the soundtrack to the hugely successful film, The Bodyguard.
