What Does The Current Situation Elaborate About US Position Regarding Iran's Nuclear Proliferation?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

From the way things look like for the United States, its redundant attempts to thwart Iran's nuclear program are unfortunately not bearing any fruit as far as the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) is concerned.

Four years ago, some of the members of the GCC had extended their support to the US for waging war on Iraq, empowering the United States to use their territory.  However things are not the same any more for GCC or for US for that matter, given the failure of the US troops in Iraq as a partial cause.

Concerning the collective as well as the individual opinions of the GCC, most of them have made it bluntly and emphatically clear to the United States that they won't be part of the US policies (read vendetta) against Iran, theoretically or practically.  Even popular public opinion espouses the stance of their respective governments, which was elucidated by a survey conducted in six Arab countries, where only 6 percent thought of Iran to be a threat to their security and about 80 percent of the respondents thought of US and Israel as the major threats externally.
