Do You Know Any Good Alternatives To Christmas Pudding?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Not everyone cares for the traditional Christmas pud. The alternatives you choose would depend on your reasons for not having one of these. If you just don't like the taste, but still like a big, heavy sweet course, then really any pudding you like would do – sticky toffee, syrup sponge, chocolate or whatever. All these puddings can be bought ready-made and heated in the microwave; or if you make them yourself, they are no more difficult than a traditional one
On the other hand, if you don't fancy Christmas pud because it's too heavy, trifle is a light, festive alternative. You could make it with something unusual like fresh mango or pineapple – and if you skip the jelly and use packet custard, trifle is one of the easiest desserts to make. Or buy a really nice ice-cream based frozen dessert – most people like them. You can always provide a few mince pies as well.
