Does Premium Fuel Make A Differance?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Very very few engines actually need high octane. Almost all engines made in the last 20 years have a knock sensor ignition system and these self adjust to the fuel. So if you have one of these rare (and probably older) cars that really need high octane you do really need it.

On the other hand there are many modern cars around today that will actually get a few more hp when you use high octane vs low octane, maybe 1 or 2% higher. You would probably not notice such a small difference. However you will notice the difference in cost!
