Wolverhampton is situated in the West Midlands England. It is a city and metropolitan borough. The railway station is towards the West Coast Main line.
It was in 1852 that Wolverhampton High level Station became operational. It was completely demolished in 1965 and constructed again using new techniques for modernization. It is after this effort that West Coast Main Line was electrified.
There is a Low Level Station on Great Western Railway. It exists since 1855. Preparation for its closure began in 1972 in a phased out manner and operations were completely suspended in the year 1981. As of today it is under renovation.
St. George located in the city centre is the northern terminus for light rail system the Midland Metro.
The station has 5 platforms. It has connectivity by Central Trains, virgin Trains and Arriva Trains Wales.
In 2004 the over bridge and other alterations made especially around platform 4 were done to enhance the utility of infrastructure by man and locomotives.
