There isnt an easy way to train a shih tzu. Thats just there breed. What i did was take your puppy out every 30 minutes or every hour.when you take the puppy out use a command. I use "get busy". Have schedule for feeding and go to the bathroom too. Dont let your puppy rome the house. Keep it on a short leash in the kitchen or living room. With some toys and a bed. You should go any were for a while because your puppy needs human companionship every step of the way. So cancel all those plans to go out to eat or take your puppy with you if it has an outdoor patio.take it with you to the petstore too. Hope this helps.
