Should I Get A Flu Jab At A Supermarket Or Local Chemist?

Answer Question

Doctors are generally recommending that those people who are at particular risk from the flu are identified through medical records and are called into the surgery, and  there is no need for other people to have the flu jab.
Flu can be an inconvenience to many people and it really is a horrible experience, but once someone has had the flu then they can build up a resistance to it in the future, so it should not always be feared.
Also there is an ethical issue about buying a flu jab.  If too many people buy the injection, then this could lead ot a shortage later on in the winter, when people who are suddenly identified as vulnerable may not have access to this potentially life saving jab.
So if you are relatively young and fit, then there is little need for a flu jab.  Instead just wash your hands frequently, particularly after shaking hands etc and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables to help boost your immune system.
