The Battle of Fort Sumter was fought in Charleston County, South Carolina on April 12 and 13 in the year 1861. It was in fact the beginning of the American Civil War.

This war resulted after South Carolina declared its succession from Union. There were seven other states that joined them. The rest were the slave states and did not join the Confederacy. As a result of which a fight started off between the Union and the Confederacy at Fort Sumter.

The Union Commander was Robert Anderson and the commander of Confederacy was P.G.T Beauregard. Union and Confederacy had 80 and 500 soldiers fighting in this war.
