My Cat Has A Swollen Right Back Leghat, What Do I Do?
On a rainy day, our male cat got out because it likes to eat the plants from our backyard. Then my husband open the door and Whiskers (Whiskers is the name of my sick cat) got in the house, so we noticed that he didn't walk correctly, so we gave him medicine, and he got much better, but then the next morning I woke up, the cat had a fat leg, so I asked my children what he had, so they said he had a swollen leg. What do I do? Please help me, tell me what to do?

This could be an abscess from a cat fight--this is treated by lancing it, pain medication, and antibiotics. He could have experienced trauma to the soft tissue (laceration or abrasion), a fracture, or dislocation. Outdoor cats are also at risk for being hit by cars. X-rays will be able to assess the bony structures. Appropriate pain medications will be given. This cat needs to be examined by a veterinarian to determine the cause of the lameness and start appropriate therapy.
