Yes if you do not properly sterilize the needle you are opening it up to infection and disease. Here is a proper care sheet www.bmezine.com do not use peroxide on the piercing to heal it.

No. However you must be very careful in sterilizing your needle. Boiling water and alcohol and wash your hands with alcohol also. Pour peroxide over it daily until its healed to prevent infection.
