Why Do Cowboys Wear What They Wear?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The original design by Levis many years ago was to be durable and comfortable for the cowboy to ride the range.  Over the years it has been an essential.  Jeans have evolved into an invaluable commodity and don't those cowboys look great?

The hat is worn because it keeps the sun and/or rain off their head.

The spurs are worn over the boots to encourage the horse to go faster.

The chaps are worn to protect their legs from being scraped by the thorn bushes.

The boots are worn to protect them from snake bit.

The long sleeve shirts are worn to protect them from sunburn.
