    Yes, by Morihei Ueshiba in the late 19th or early 20th centuries. He was a long-time martial artist and one day was meditating, saw a spider web, and had an epiphany. He became a master of amazing prowess, and gained a big following.

      It is also a form of hapkido, in which one uses the attackers' energy against themselves.  having my brown belt in tae kwon do, i would have to make an educated guess & say:   china♥
