Red Belly toads are originally called fire belly toads. By origin, they belong to the frog family and eat some what the same kind of food as the others. They eat a variety of insects with the exception of aquatic insects. Some of the aquatic insects that you can feed your red belly toads are dragonflies, stoneflies, caddisflies, trueflies, fishflies etc. when the red belly toads are hunting on land, they usually eat terrestrial insects like beetles, other flies and a variety of ants. You should make sure that what ever you are feeding your red belly toads should be moving as they determine what to eat by its motion.

Smaller toads and tadpoles also eat aquatic insects but when they are rather young, they usually eat plants and algae. Red belly toads are mostly found in dense vegetation forests and wetlands, so it is important that you make a similar habitat for your red belly toad to make him feel at home by keeping it in a tropical or an amphibian fish tank with water and land based hiding place.
