Where Is The Abruzzo National Park?

Answer Question

The Abruzzon National Park is in Italy, in a mountainous region about 100 km east of Rome. It is in the heart of the central appenines and is a mountainous region with dramatic scenery, high jagged peaks and woodland with rocky streams. More than half of the 400 square kilometres of the park is forest, while mountain meadows and a small amount of cultivated land make up the rest.

The mountain wilderness in the park provides the perfect living environment for the brown bear. It has loads of food and natural shelter and 80 to 100 brown bears live in the Abruzzon National Park. This is Europe's second largest brown bear population.

The park also has 20 of the very rare Appenine wolves, a sub species of the grey wolf. Grey wolves are becoming increasingly rare all over the world and have a reputation of being fierce that is not really deserved.
